Recent Trends on Domestic, Agricultural and Industrial Wastewaters Treatment Using Microalgae Biorefinery System

In addition to producing bioenergy and molecules with high added value, microalgae have been recognized as an efficient microorganism for wastewater treatment. However, a major obstacle preventing its widespread use is the energy cost of pretreatment, cultivation downstream processes. Different types wastewaters tested culture mediums microalgal biorefinery system. This review gives summary most used strains treatment, well information on physical chemical characteristics domestic, agricultural, industrial wastewaters. It also discusses pretreatment techniques, nutrient uptake removal, biomass production biomolecules productivities. There discussion how remove contaminants from wastewater. Additionally, problems restrictions microalgae-based treatment are explored, recommendations made additional study advancement. literature demonstrates that monoculture systems proven be beneficial innovative technology, due efficiencies in pollutant removals biomolecule production; however, upstream pose limit industrialize process. Until now, there has no conventional design process using system, which constitutes huge gap assess real life cycle assessment (LCA) techno economic analysis (TEA).
